30 MVA Transformer Sale |
With a recent steel plant closing in Utah, all the electrical equipment was considered surplus. Of interest to Global Power Supply was one of the large power transformers that were on site. These transformers had been installed only 1 1/2 years prior to the closing. We purchased one of the three main transformers and after testing and verifying conditions it was offered for sale. This transformer started life as a main power transformer and now serves as GSU test transformer at a turbine repair facility. The enclosed pictures show the transformer being prepared for shipment. |

When one of our customers had a failure of a main power transformer, Global Power Supply supplied a Surplus New replacement. We had a transformer that matched the customer's voltages and vector groups exactly. Once the paperwork was completed, it took a month to move it to the customer's site. The pictures depict the logistics involved in moving a piece of equipment this large. |

15/20/25 MVA Transformer Sale (pair of sister units) |
Due to a planned casino upgrade, a Las Vegas company upgraded their main power transformers. Through the efforts of our Asset Recovery personnel we remained in constant contact with the Casino and when the time came to remove these we were able to offer them to one of our customers in Texas. As they were in service for 10 years, some concern was apparent as to the condition of the transformers. A testing specification was prepared by Global Power Supply and Kuhlman Electric Field Service was contracted to perform the independent testing.
The testing parameters included:
Insulating Resistance
Power Factor of bushings and windings
Sweep Frequency Response Analysis
Oil quality sample
Dissolved Gas in Oil Analysis
Winding Resistance
Transformer Turns Ratio
Core Ground
The customer requested that they have a representative present to witness the testing and these arrangements were also handled by Global Power Supply. The testing regime proved the transformers had indeed been used below actual nameplate values and were in like new condition. The customer accepted delivery and the transformers are now located in Texas. |
